Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves

Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves

A Thale Frame The Arabian Nights

Say the magic words on the rocky cliffs. I want you to fetch me some jewels and gold coins from the cave. Gold coins of all sizes are what I want. Her gift to him was a large bag to carry all the treasure.

Kassim did as his wife had instructed. Then he ran back to the rocks with the bag.

He spoke the magic words in front of the cliff. Sesame Street!’

Kassim hurried inside as soon as the secret door opened.

The magic words closed the door. It's close to Sesame Street!’

The oil lamps were still burning. Kassim was able to see the stairs that led down to the treasure cave. As fast as he could, he ran down the stone steps.

Kassim's eyes lit up with greed when he saw all the shining jewels and glistening gold. Gems and coins were stuffed into his bag. As soon as it was filled, there was no more room for treasure.

Kassim became so excited that something terrible happened. The magic words slipped his mind! Kassim ran up the stone steps and stepped in front of the magic door.

The barley is open! He wept.

There was nothing to report.

The oats are open!’

There was nothing to report.

He was worried about Kassim.

'I know it was food,' he said to himself. He tried everything he could think of.

It's 'Open Wheat!' Rye open! Open the pumpkin! Melon, open! '

Then, something even more dreadful happened. The magic door opened, and the thieves who had stolen the treasure stood there.

'Robbers,' you say!" Kassim shrieked. The leader pulled out his sword before he could count them. He threatened Kassim with his sharp curved blade.

Kassim's bag bulged with their treasure, as the thieves' leader saw.

He poked his sword into Kassim, and the greedy man fell down, never to move again.

That night Kassim’s wife became worried when her husband didn’t return home with any treasure. Ali Baba was next door.

Ali Baba listened to her story, and he feared the worst. ‘I had better go and find him,’ he said to her.

He was afraid that the thieves had found Kassim.

To search for his brother, Ali Baba took a lantern up into the rocky mountains. Kassim's dead body lay on the ground in front of the hidden cave.

In order for his family to bury him properly, Ali Baba lifted his brother and carried him back home.

The thieves returned to their cave the next day with more treasure they had stolen. The thief's leader expected to see the body of the man he had killed - but it wasn't there!

Say 'Stop!' Hold on! The leader cried. When he bent down to examine the ground, he was able to see the tracks left by the body.

He cried out to the others, 'We must hide our treasure quickly'. I have to follow these tracks. The secret hiding spot seems to have been discovered by someone else. Sharpen your swords at home. Prepare yourself for a flight tomorrow. You will need a large cart and a strong donkey. Obtain thirty-nine large olive oil jars that are large enough to hide inside. You need to make a hole in each lid to allow fresh air to enter the jar. Make sure everything is ready and meet me at daybreak tomorrow. '

Although the thirty-nine robbers did as he instructed, their leader followed the tracks all the way to Ali Baba's house.

The thief thought to himself, 'When I return tomorrow.' I will pretend to be a seller of quality olive oil. This is where I will park my olive oil jar cart and knock on this man's door with my cart of olive oil jars. I shout, "Olive oil!"My thieves will rush in with their swords drawn, ready for battle. ’

The man had no idea that Ali Baba's maid, Morgiana, had quietly come out of the back door. The woman heard every word the man whispered to himself.

He continued to talk to himself. I will have thirty-nine olive oil jars in my cart. Each jar will contain a man armed with a sharp sword. 'The man laughed evilly. He won't know what hit him when he opens the door!’

Morgiana returned to the house to tell Ali Baba what she had heard. After saying, 'I have a plan...' she explained her plan to Ali Baba.

The thieves met up with their leader early the next morning. On the cart were 39 enormous jars. Each empty olive oil jar contained a man. The leader covered each jar with a lid.

A sturdy donkey pulled the heavy cart to Ali Baba’s house. The thieves ’leader parked his cart in Ali Baba’s yard. Then he went and knocked on the door.

The door was opened by Ali Baba.

You're an olive oil merchant, right? He replied. I think that's just what we need. I will buy a jar from you. Come in and have a drink with us first, and I'll pay you well. '

It was obvious that Morgiana had made the liquid with sleeping powder. "The man happily accepted a drink," she said.

In the yard, Morgiana crept. In the jars, she used a dish of soft cheese to plug all the breathing holes. The thieves collapsed into the bottom of their jars when they ran out of fresh air.
